Portugal… was born here.
In June 24th, 1128, Portugal conquered its independence in the famed Battle of São Mamede, in Guimarães. And, in an heroic and historical form, was born here the vast country that today proud of the greatness of its history, based on the noblest and highest human values, and who loves to receive and welcome like no other. In 2001, UNESCO classified Guimarães Historic Centre World Heritage Site.
Here was born Guimarães Half Marathon – Race of Conquerors in the important year of 2013, in which Guimarães was honored as European City of Sport and voted best European Sports City. In 2012 was European Capital of Culture. It is in this town of conquest, birthplace of Portugal, you can share the opportunity to race in one of the most stunning scenery in the world.
