Regulation

1. Organization

The Half marathons in Heritage World are organized in 2017 by GlobalSport by EDP Running Wonders, in Guarda (first edition, April 2nd), in the Douro Valley Region (twelfth edition May 28th), Guimarães (fifth edition on June 25th), Castelo Branco (first edition, April 10th), Dão (fourth edition on September 24th) Coimbra (fourth edition on October 22nd) and Évora (third edition on November 26th). The races have the support of the city councils, including Guarda, CIM Douro, Braga, Viseu, Coimbra and Évora.

The races have their signature, with the following designations: Guarda Half Marathon – ‘The highest race in Portugal’; Douro Valley Half Marathon – ‘The most beautiful Race in the World’; Guimarães Half Marathon – ‘Race of Conquerors’; Castelo Branco Half Marathon – ‘Hapiness Race’; Dão Half Marathon – ‘Race of Emotion’; Coimbra Half Marathon – ‘Race of Knowledge’; Évora Half Marathon – ‘Monumental Race’.

2. Races

There are three types of races in EDP Running Wonders editions:

*Half Marathon, with 21.097 kilometers (official distance);

*Mini Marathon, with approximately 10 km;

Walk, 5 km, aimed at all age groups and without competition purposes. Must use the official t-shirt of the event while walking.

*Races in 2017: for participants born in 1999 and earlier years;

In the edition of the Douro Valley Half Marathon – ‘The most beautiful Race in the World’, there is no walk, but the Mini Marathon has a shorter distance, 6 km, and is aimed at all age groups and without final classification.

The Douro Valley Half Marathon in Wheelchair, with 21.097 kilometers, is a unique event of EDP Running Wonders in Douro Valley. Regulation is at the bottom of this page.

3. Date and time of realization

Guarda Half Marathon – ‘The highest race in Portugal ‘, April 2nd at 10.30am. Starting in ‘Sé da Guarda’.

Douro Valley Half Marathon – ‘The most beautiful Race in the World ‘, May 28th at 10.30am. Starting in Dam Bagaúste in Peso da Régua.

Guimarães Half Marathon – ‘Race of Conquerors’, June 25th at 10h00.

Castelo Branco Half Marathon – ‘Hapiness Race ‘, April 10th at 10.30am. Starting in ‘Praça Luís de Camões’.

Dão Half Marathon – ‘Race of Emotion’, September 24th at 10.30am. Starting at Fontelo Park, Viseu.

Coimbra Half Marathon – ‘Race of Knowledge’, October 22nd at 10.30am.

Évora Half Marathon – ‘Monumental Race’, November 26th at 10.30am.

4. Duration

The Half Marathon, Mini Marathon and Walk events have a three-hour limit on the half marathon, one hour and forty minutes on the mini marathon, and an hour and thirty minutes on the walk.

After the passage of the last car of the race, participants who are on the course and wish to continue to do so under its own responsibility, obeying traffic rules – Highway Code.

The organization may control the pace walk.

5. Inscriptions

The data entered at registration are the responsibility of the user to fully answer the accuracy, veracity and authenticity of the data.

Registrations can be made in www.runningwonders.com.

Registrations are only confirmed after payment. Payment must be made within the specified time frame after that period prices are subject to price updates and entries will be void. The maximum limit of entries is ten thousand participants per race.

The organization reserves the right to award the dorsal VIP to invited participants. All registered participant may require the organization dorsal VIP, proving the effect in the past two years, time of less than 1:15 a.m. in Half Marathon race.

Registration is not transferable, and, in performing the registration, participants accept all the terms of this regulation, and assume they have no contraindications to the practice of athletics and / or performing inherent in participation effort in the race.

The participant who give their dorsal to other person without formal authorization in writing, the event organizers will not be responsible for any accident that it will suffer, exempting the organization of the event, partners and public institutions from any and all liability as well as the service to the same.

The organization reserves the right not to refund the registration fee for reasons not attributable to the organization of a race.

The organization may at any time suspend, extend deadlines, add, or limit the number of entries of the event in terms of needs, technical or structural availability without notice.

6. Prices

The prices shown adds processing fees for online registration and use of bank cards.

Under the legislation, the issue of invoice must be requested after act of payment via info@globalsport.pt. It has three days to request the same.

7. Participant Kit

To pick the kit, the participant must be in possession of the registration and proof of valid photo identification.

In the case of the t-shirt size stock break an alternative size is suggested.

The delivery of the race kit performs on the two days preceding the date of the race and the day just before departure in place to designate and to be communicated to participants in advance.

8. Ranks

Half Marathon (21 km) and Mini Marathon (10 km, except Douro with just 6km) for participants over 18 years old, born in 1999 and earlier (except for the Douro Valley Half Marathon, where the conditions for participation are similar to Walk in other races, for all ages).

The ranking is considered based on the exact age verified on the day of the event.
For the establishment of a ranking must be present at the starting line of at least three participants of the same sex. Participants of the bands that do not constitute will be integrated into the immediately preceding scale that corresponds to him.

Walk (5 km) and Douro Valley Mini Marathon (6 km).
For participants of all ages. Minors must be accompanied in the race by an adult.

9. Supply

Half Marathon

Water – 5km / 10km / 15km / Finish Line.

Isotonic drink – Midpoint and Finish Line.

Apple – Finish Line

These posts can be changed according to weather conditions.

Mini Marathon / Walking

Water – Midpoint and finish line.

10. Assistance

The Racing have the presence of a medical team, together with service of specialized ambulances, providing all possible medical support during the races. Continuity of medical care, if necessary, is done by the National Health Service.

The organization undertakes to celebrate sports insurance contract required by law, valid and in favor of all registered participants that are not federal. If the participant refer to an institution of the National Health Service, according to their participation in a race, it shall notify the organization as soon as possible for insurance activation, incurring risk of the process not be accepted if this notification is not made on time. The payment of user fees is the participant’s responsibility and may be reimbursed by the insurer if the process meets the necessary requirements.

To discipline the participants and the transit of persons and vehicles over the race there are security forces and the maintenance of public order, identified volunteers and organization of the elements who should be given all the attention and collaboration.

It is not the organization’s responsibility, nor any official and private entity providing support or collaboration, any accident of participants, technicians and other supporters in access travel and return during the event, or any strange actions the organization in throughout this.

The transit of foreign vehicles to the organization is not allowed.

Taking into account the safety of the participants, will not be allowed the participation of people, scooters, bicycles, animals, skateboards, skates, objects or other elements that endanger the safety of participants.

11. Services

The organization offers a wardrobe space at the starting/finish line for participants of all Half Marathon and Mini Marathon (except Douro Valley Mini Marathon). To pick the belongings, you need to present your dorsal.

12. Classifications

Half Marathon and Mini Marathon (except Douro Valley Mini Marathon)

The ratings are displayed on the event website at the same day, the same can be changed if non-conformities are verified.

Walk (and Douro Valley Mini Marathon) don’t have ratings.

No individual or collective ratings.

13. Timing

The races are timed with electronics ‘chip’. All participants in the Half Marathon and Mini Marathon with classification must use the ‘chip’ that is provided to them. The ‘chip’ is not transferable.

The organization is not responsible for the failure of the presentation of results resulting from poor placement of the ‘chip’. The dorsal / chip must be fixed and visible in the t-shirt, which will not be covered with other garments or transported at the athlete’s hand. Will be disqualified all participants effecting its race with a ‘chip’ of another athlete, more than one ‘chip’ or have no record in one of the intermediate controls.

The race is timed with electronic system – ” chip ” , which to be read, the athlete will need to put / keep the dorsal (which contains the chip) visible in front of the chest throughout the race in perfect condition . All participants in the Half and Mini Marathon should use the chip provided to the athlete which is not transferable.

The organization is not responsible for the failure of the presentation of results resulting misplacement of the chip. Will be disqualified all participants carrying out the chip of another athlete, more than a chip or do not have one of intermediate controls.

14. Awards

All participants of the Half Marathon and Mini Marathon to finalize the race are entitled to participation medal.

Individual awards are given to participants of male and female overall, veterans M40, M45, M50, M55, M60, F40 and F45.

Trophies to three (3) finishers male and female general of the Mini and Half Marathon will be delivered at the podium ceremony. (In Douro Valley Mini Marathon there is no podium ceremony or prizes). The presence of athletes is mandatory

Participants in the Half Marathon, regardless of the level to which they belong, can take advantage of the prize corresponding to the place of the General Classification, which are not cumulative. The prize awarded is the highest value.

Half Marathon Prizes must be claimed by athletes exclusively within 30 days after the race. To this end, participants have available on the race page www.runningwonders.com a form to fill out and submit the required documents – old ‘green receipt’ or isolated act should be passed to Paulo  Costa Organização de Eventos e Animação Turística Uni. with tax identification number, 508 125 413.

The payment, if due, shall be made within 30 days of receipt of all requested documents.

The value of the prizes awarded in cash is subject to the tax law in force.

15. Jury

Juries races are the responsibility of Arbitration Regional Councils of Athletics Associations. Thus, in the ‘The highest race in Portugal’, Guarda Half Marathon, the jury is the responsibility of the Regional Council of Arbitration of Association of Athletics of Guarda. In the ‘Most beautiful Race in the World’, Douro Valley Half Marathon, the jury is the responsibility of the Regional Council of Arbitration of Association of Athletics Vila Real. In ‘Race of Conquerors’, Guimarães Half Marathon, the jury is the responsibility of the Regional Council of Arbitration of the Athletics Association of Braga. In ‘Happiness Race’, Castelo Branco Half Marathon, the jury is the responsibility of the Regional Council of Arbitration of the Athletics Association of Castelo Branco. In ‘Race of Emotion’, Dão Half Marathon, the jury is the responsibility of the Regional Council of Arbitration of the Athletics Association of Viseu. In the Race of Knowledge ‘, Coimbra Half Marathon, the jury of proof is the responsibility of the Regional Council of Arbitration District Athletics Association of Coimbra. In ‘Monumental Race’ Évora Half Marathon, the jury is the responsibility of the Regional Council of Arbitration of the Athletics Association of Évora.

16. Infractions

They are not sanctioned athletes:

– Do not perform the starting control;
– Do not comply with the route in its entirety;
– Do not use the dorsal during the race on the back clearly visible;
– Falsify any element relating to their registration;
– Run with the dorsal which does not match the application name;
– Run over the tours;
– Intentionally harm other participants.

17. Resource

Any action complaint or protest must be submitted in writing, and in place, to the jury, within 30 minutes after the announcement of results. By such action is due the importance of €100 (one hundred euros) which will be returned if the action is upheld.

18. Doping Control

The participants may be subject to carry out doping control in any of the races.

19. Image rights / Personal Data

The participant, to confirm their subscription, authorizes the transfer, free of charge and unconditionally, the rights of use of their image captured on set and official photographs that will take place during the races, authorizing its reproduction in the organization’s own media . Please be advised that the personal data of the participants are recorded on file, whose head is the company “Paulo Costa – Organização de Eventos, Animação Turística Unipessoal Lda.”, domiciled in Rua Delminda Pinto Ribeiro, nº 17 5050-346 Poiares – Peso da Régua. The purpose of this file is to allow the management of data from participants enrolled in the ‘Racing’. If you want to exercise their rights of access, rectification, cancellation or opposition should do so in writing and copy of the ID card or citizen card to the address described. For commercial reasons, the Globalsport may transmit to a trade partner the identity and athlete data for marketing purposes.

20. Cancellations

The cancellation of the events or races can occur by factors external to the organization, such as natural disasters, strikes, demonstrations, obstructing the routes of paths or public roads, inability to use telecommunications, government restrictions or new legislation. In these cases, the organization reserves the right to, within 30 days of the date set for the examinations, issue an opinion on the actions to be taken arising from the cancellation.

21. Regulations

Omissions in this Regulation are resolved according to the General Competition Rules of the Portuguese Athletics Federation.

Regulation for Douro Valley Half Marathon Wheelchair

a) An organization of GlobalSport associated with the EDP Running Wonders circuit, with the support of the National Association of Athletes in Wheelchair, will be held on May 28, 2017 the Douro Valley Half Marathon Douro.

b) Douro Valley Half Marathon Wheelchair is part of the EDP Running Wonders – Douro Valley Half Marathon.

c) The race is authorized by the National Association of Athletes Wheelchair (ANACR) and are therefore included in their national schedule;

d) The race is intended for athletes with physical disabilities eligible to participate in athletics competitions and begins by 10:30 hours, with departure and arrival in Peso da Régua;

e) The race route is identical to the Half Marathon, with the extension of 21.097 kms;

f) The purpose of this race is to provide a competition in which, in addition to the high level of competitive some practitioners may gather other medium and recreational level practitioners;

g) The Douro Valley Half Marathon Wheelchair also intends to provide a demonstration of the capabilities of athletes with physical disabilities, enhanced by the media level of competition;

h) The GlobalSport want to remember the race and the sport in general, can be practiced by all, including the special populations most in need, as given in the Portuguese Constitution;

i) This competition has final general classification as well as cash prizes. There will also be t-shirts and medals alluding to this race for all participants;

j) The organization has structured a medical service care under the guidance of an expert team of professionals, although is not responsible for any accident that it is found in the course of this race;

k) All participating athletes are covered by insurance, as stipulated by law.

l) Helmet use is mandatory.

m) Mechanisms or levers are not allowed that can be used to propel the chair, only mechanical steering devices and manual operation are allowed.

n) The Half Marathon in a wheelchair has a single-level, classes T53 / T54.
